Brook House

CONTRACT:
Brook House
CLIENT:
Bloor Homes
ARCHITECT:
Heath Avery Architects
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER:
O’Brien & Price Cheltenham Ltd

DESCRIPTION:

Brook House is Bloor Homes’ first venture into multi-storey accommodation. The building consists of a basement and four upper floors as a consequence of which the building was designed to cater for progressive collapse conditions.

A steel frame solution with pre-cast concrete floors was adopted with particular attention being paid to the requirements to achieve a high performance in sound attenuation between dwellings. To maximise floor to ceiling heights, the structure has been designed and detailed to be contained almost wholly within the floor and wall thicknesses. The penthouse apartment commands a magnificent view of Cheltenham.

The external works incorporate areas of pervious car park surfacing constructed to minimise the impact on the several fine trees bounding the site.
