Coxhorne, Cheltenham

CONTRACT:
Coxhorne, Cheltenham
CLIENT:
Mr Graham Henley
ARCHITECT:
John T Ladley Architect
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER:
O’Brien & Price Cheltenham Ltd
CONTRACTOR:
Leckhampton Builders

DESCRIPTION:

At the rear of the house was a Victorian timber framed conservatory housing a substantial vine of a similar age. The Client needed to replace the conservatory because of its condition and with the Architect developed a contemporary design. The vine was retained and protected throughout. Piled foundations were designed with ground beams mostly above ground level to avoid disturbance of the root zone. The steel frame is aligned with the glazing to minimise visual impact.
