Hollingsworth & Vose Effluent Treatment Plant

Hollingsworth & Vose Effluent Treatment Plant
CONTRACT:
Hollingsworth & Vose Effluent Treatment Plant
CLIENT:
Hollingsworth & Vose
ARCHITECT:
Eastabrook Architects
STRUCTURAL ENGINEER:
O’Brien & Price Cheltenham Ltd
COMPLETED:
2017

DESCRIPTION:

As part of their processes, effluent is produced that contains glass fibre. This had been deposited in a stilling pond formed between earth banks, from which the fibre could be reclaimed.

Due to its proximity to the river and the risk of pollution Hollingsworth & Vose commissioned O’Brien & price Cheltenham Ltd to design a concrete holding tank incorporating a secondary containment barrier and alarm system to meet environment protection standards. The effluent is corrosive, and the tank floor incorporates a sacrificial layer of concrete.
